Wedding Inspiration

The day every Girl dreams about for years.

Your turn has finally come and suddenly you are Anxious about where to start, how to start.

If you don’t have the right people giving you advice, it will not be a walk in the park and No, you cannot do everything yourself. I asked my brother in law to help from the start as he had arranged many a wedding in his lifetime, this made the journey painless. Don’t get me wrong, I had my FREAK OUTS, but my mom kept me calm throughout.

First thing to do is to establish how many guests you will be inviting and based on that, you need to find a venue that accommodates the amount. Book your venue a year in advance, they are all booked out very far ahead. Photographers and DJ’s are also booked out way in advance so get that out of the way too.

Our Venue was the beautiful Rhebokskloof in Paarl. The ceremony as well as reception took place there.

Zandri Du Preez Photography was our photographer and I chose Compact Sound as the DJ based on reviews.

Mint and Magnolia in Paarl did our decor and flowers. The theme I chose was rustic chic and we had a mix of very colourful wild flowers. I did not want to do too much in terms of table decor as the area where the reception was held was already beautiful. We did charcoal table cloths with “ou goud” candle holders, added a touch of white and colour and that worked very well. I am a very firm believer of less is more.

I did not have to worry about a cake, our cake was a gift from a very dear friend of mine.

She used Lia Rothmann from Lia Rothmann Cakes (absolute genius)

Our stationary supplier i found on Facebook through a Blog – Oh Yay Stationary in Durbanville, she did our menu’s and table placements. Hair and Makeup was also found through a Blog – Minke Du Plessis Hair and Makeup from Durbanville. You cannot be shy to spend on makeup. My Dress was Anna Georgina which i got through Calegra Bridal House in Cape Town CBD and the bridesmaid dresses were Maxi B from YDE.

Through my own experience, the 2 weeks prior to the wedding is honestly a bit chaotic, you have a 100 small stuff to remember and finalize. Make lists, make lots and lots and lots of lists and tackle a few points every day.

If i could change one thing, I would not be so anxious on the day and worry about everyone and sweat the small stuff. The day literally goes by so fast, you cannot believe and it really is just about the 2 of you, about your love. Also, cautious with the champagne while getting ready, once you are zipped up, it is difficult to go to the bathroom, Lol!
